Help...

A simple and beautiful word that defines the existence of us Human beings in a unique way. It means “To be useful to somebody” or “To make something simple or easier”.

Nature has created us in a way that we exist with our little imperfections and cannot go through life without “Help”. So, this becomes a connect between us and the world. Each one of us has to take our own actions and make decisions. And with the help of the world around us life could be so much easier and simple. We are given helpers in the form of parent, family, teachers, partners, friends, colleagues, and children. Many names with the same purpose – Help. We are all seekers and givers too. We have our uses as well those we call strength or abilities. And we are bestowed with these skills and attributes so we can be useful to somebody in some way.

But the question is “Why is world not simple?” Despite so many abilities, usefulness spread all around us, why the world is still so complicated”? What’s wrong?

I guess we are missing a link here. If you look closely to the meaning of Help – To be useful to somebody. The words ‘To Be’ are of significance here because they make a huge difference. If we remove these words, the remaining set of words will still mean Help but it would not be a verb. It will become a noun, a person who is useful to somebody. But a person is only a set of abilities, only potential, only static like a nodal point. It is not a connect. It is a mere existence, without a flow, like a tool or a thing, lifeless.

The life would only happen when this person is being useful. That is when the connect happens, that is when the actual Help happens. So, the life is in manifestation of the abilities, in being and that’s why “To Be” makes the difference. We will be when we have the intent because Intent brings the action. And in all instances, it is the lack of intent that stops the Help from happening than the ability. And that’s what’s complicating the world.

How many of us will reach out to others and say “Hey! I am useful” or “Hey, can I help!” unless we are customer service professionals. Instead, we have built such strong notions to stop ourselves from reaching out to others. Statements like “Do not give Unsolicited advice” or “Even a mother would not feed the child till it cries”! To me these are nothing more than the novel ways to cover up our own unwillingness or handicap to let go of our false ego.

What would happen if we reach out and give suggestion to someone who did not ask? We might not be taken seriously, ridiculed, or not appreciated for our gesture. Fine, but is our purpose to get accolades, applauds, appreciations and reward for our action? If it is so, then save your energies. But if you understand that every opportunity of reaching out to others is an opportunity to exercise your own usefulness and enhance your own skills and abilities and achieve more happiness and satisfaction within yourself; then do not wait for someone to call out to you. Go right ahead, extend your hand and ask “Hey buddy, need help! Can I do this for you” and make it simple.

You never know someone could be so overwhelmed in troubles that calling out for help doesn’t even occur. Or in the midst of turmoil someone might have lost hope to be heard or answered back.

If you can see and understand, you reach out. You do not need invitation, permission or authority to help. Your ability is authority in itself and your willingness is the only permission you need.

I am a mother and I have never waited for the baby to cry before I feed them, unless I want to teach them. The lessons of knowing that you need something and that if you do not have it with you, you ask. Even then, I am watchful that I do not ignore their need if they somehow do not yet learn to ask. So, be watchful. Lessons are important and are for life but Life is not for lessons.

This brings in another aspect of Help i.e. asking for help. We should know when we need help and when we need to shout out.

Just like we need to leave ego out of the way to extend help; we need to leave ego or shame out of the way to receive help. Those who shout out have more chances to be pulled out of well and survive and thrive.

Just like there is immense satisfaction and peace in giving; there is immense Grace and gratitude in receiving. These actions cannot happen without each other. Both happen simultaneously.

Let the world be a simple place. Let the peace and grace imbibes your existence. Let satisfaction and gratitude fill your life.

Life is beautiful; world is sorted; the only complication resides in the mind… get over it.
